Alex Ross works at Unsupervised, a company that uses AI to help clients analyze data. As content marketing manager, she creates “things that you search for online,” like blog posts and reports. “I help to make sure people can find answers to the questions they have,” she told Marketing Brew.
What has your career looked like to date? I’ve been in content marketing for over six years. I got my start working with real-estate investors, learning about marketing the old-fashioned way (breaking things and making mistakes until you get it right). Since then, I’ve found my calling in B2B marketing, working in fast-growing SaaS startups including Chatmeter and Unsupervised, where I hold my current position as the content marketing manager.
Favorite ad campaign? Progressive, becoming your parents [from its “Dr. Rick” campaign]. As a millennial, it’s all too relatable.
One thing we can’t guess from your LinkedIn profile? I love to cook. It’s the only way I turn my brain off from thinking about marketing.
Marketing trend you’re least optimistic about? Social media. I still think social media is a great channel, but I think there’s going to be a major shift in how we approach social. You can’t just post and hope for the best. You have to build a community, and brands that do that well will be light-years ahead of the rest.
What’s a marketing-related podcast, social account, or series you’d recommend? The Marketing Millennials.
